catherine reid's lightworks table lamps are simple cylindrical forms that provide a canvas for detailed patterning. catherine decorates her current series of lamps and pendants using a resist method. the wall is thinned to allow the contrasting light patterns to show through the porcelain body. lit from within, they are reminiscent of sand dunes and the patterns in water.

catherine reid describes the australian landscape as “…delicately coloured and finely detailed, a landscape both persistent and fragile”. she explores the patterns found in the landscape using the translucency of porcelain, a medium that allows the capturing of its’ characteristic delicacy.
