this particular bowl is hand thrown stoneware fired in a gas kiln. 

david was first introduced to japanese pots of the kamakuri period (ad 1200-1336) during his training. this is pottery from the six ancient kilns, tokoname and shigaraki being the ones that influenced his work the most. their simple beauty has been admired ever since and emulated by potters around the world. david is one of these potters.
