louisa always aims when throwing bowls and tableware to make these forms as thin and light as possible, allowing ease in passing around at the table. hart has worked with a multitude of glazes over the last 30 years and feels that the glazes developed for this body of work suit the forms perfectly. these are copper glazes which are highly sensitive to the firing atmosphere, which is a light reduction in a gas kiln.
her glazes are always sprayed, with the desired effect of producing a gradation of colours. the straight edged bowls are thrown on the wheel with keane’s ironstone and glazed with a thick chun, in heavy reduction in a gas kiln.
