peter tierney spend most of his time working on the wheel and occasionally hand builds. he prefers to work with clays that have some iron and grog which gives his pieces a certain amount of warmth and texture, they are gas fired to stoneware in reduction.
the greatest influences in peter’s work are contemporary Japanese ceramics, people and the forms and textures he sees in nature. he uses shino and ash glazes because they are unpredictable and each piece has an individual quality.
